Alistair Cruz-Mermy

Alistair1How old are you? 29

How long have you been skiing? 26-27 years

What is your preferred discipline? Dual Sprint

What are your skiing aspirations? It’s going to be my first “real” season in telemark, so I want to do the best that I can. If I can win the British Championships and be in the top 20 at the end of the WC season that will be awesome.

What would be your advice to upcoming skiers? Take the most pleasure possible!

Is there anything you do before a race? I visualise the race, especially the difficult parts. I think about my mistakes so not to repeat them. And I think how lucky we are to be here representing Great Britain.

Who is your sporting hero? All those who have achieved their goals despite barriers. Such as Samir Azzimani (representative of Morocco at the Olympics) who is a wonderful person that I had the chance to meet several times at different races. Also, Yohann Taberlet, a friend whom I spent several years in alpine FIS racing. He has had a paragliding accident and now is one of the world’s best disabled skiers.

What do you do to relax? Have a Tea, stretching, listen to music.

If you were not a ski racer what would you be doing? After having worked with composite material in my current jobs I’d like to work with wood

Who is your secret crush? I’m thinking but I really don’t know…

What is you favorite food? Vegetarian lasagna

What’s on your iPod? A little bit of everything… Keytranada, R.L. Burnside, C2C, The Rolling Stones,…

Can you tell us something nobody else knows about you? Good question

What song is most likely to make you move on the dance floor? It depends on what time it is…

What can you be heard saying most often (catchphrase/motto)? Have fun! Take pleasure!
