The last British Telemark Team ceased to exist in 1997, with the last recorded results being the World Championships in Meirengen, Switzerland. Since then there has been a lapse in interest and it has only been since January 2007 that the GB Telemark phoenix has been forced up from the ashes! 2007 SEASON In early 2007 the newly-formed TeamGB travelled to Germany to compete against the World's best - Germany, France, Austria, Croatia, Finland, Slovenia, Japan, Switzerland, USA, Denmark, Norway and Sweden all sent well-sponsored, well-equipped teams and, despite some initial double-takes at the mention of British Team, we were well-received and it was a truly rewarding and terrific experience for all, (albeit it a rather scruffy one - we were all wearing different kit and had less than perfect equipment for racing. We had tiny sponsorship deals – freebies only, no hard cash - and this was clearly an area we needed to work hard on in preparation for 2008.) In late-March a team of two made it to the World Championships in Switzerland and both got decent finishes.
